This time last year, during Learning Disability Awareness Week, DaDa was working to launch Joshua Henderson’s debut album. The talented musician recorded his debut album ‘Songs of Liverpool for Friends’ thanks to Youth Music funding, working with DaDa Musicians and fellow musicians who, like Josh, had started their musical journey through the DaDa Young Ensemble Project.
DaDa collaborated with Mersey Ferries to offer a first play of Josh’s album to ferry commuters in June of last year. Josh’s songs, which are a love letter to Liverpool, pay homage to many of the sights enjoyed from the Mersey, along with his favourite places such as Bluecoat, home of DaDa.
Josh showcased his album at Bluecoat later that week to a live audience and smashed his initial target of 500 listens online, reaching more than 2500 before the year was out.
Now, a year on, more young musicians are following in Josh’s footsteps, working to create new music as part of an ensemble, funded by Youth Music.
