Intro

DaDa x NSDF is an opportunity for young disabled, Deaf and neurodivergent artists to come together, develop as artists and create a piece of new and exciting work to be premiered at NSDF’s annual festival.

Who's involved?
NSDF is an iconic national festival for young people, which for 65 years has existed to help emerging theatre practitioners find their home in the arts. The DaDa x NSDF cohort is made of up artists aged 16 – 26 from all over the Northwest and West Yorkshire. As part of the programme they attend workshops, masterclasses and more from guest artists, as well as receiving creative support.

Why do we need it?
It’s time for the voices of disabled, Deaf and neurodivergent artists to be placed centre-stage, and DaDa x NSDF creates a fantastic opportunity for young aspiring Theatremakers to get involved.

How does it work?
The cohort is selected through an open call for young people who are passionate about theatre, whether they’re an actor, director, designer or any other discipline applicable to theatremaking. They develop skills through weekly sessions with professional guest artists and collaborate on an original theatre piece.

DaDa x NSDF culminates with a sharing of the piece at the Curve Leicester as part of NSDF and DaDaFest International. The cohort are also supported to attend the wider festival, taking part in workshops, panel discussions and watching other performances to develop their practice and expand their networks.
