What is your role at DaDa?
I am Exceutive Producer at DaDa.
What does that mean?
I’m currently in a joint leadership role with my colleague Ngozi. We’re leading on and overseeing strategic development and artistic programme for the organisation including business planning, partnership development, and artist development. I have a focus on finance, policy and partnerships and Ngozi and I work together on artistic programming and commissioning.
Tell us a bit about your background
I joined DaDa in 2016 as a Freelance Festival Producer and then as a staff member in 2018. Prior to this, I worked with Merseyside Dance Initiative for 11 years as Project Development Manager and Producer. Before that, I worked in Wales with Centre for Performance Research as Producer / Project Manager and Publications Officer. In between these roles I have worked as a freelance producer for individual artists including Alexandrina Hemsley and Selina Thompson as well as Producer for multiple community and cross-arts projects and events in Merseyside.
My work has always focused on issues linked to social justice and often supported underrepresented groups. I was Chair of Homotopia in Liverpool between 2016 and 2020 and Chair of ZU-UK in London between 2017 and 2020. I hold two Masters Degrees in Contemporary Performance and Cultural Policy. I performed and Produced for 10 years as part of the US-based La Pocha Nostra with Guillermo-Gomez Pena.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I enjoy live music, walking in general and being outdoors – especially in the sea - in all weather! I dabble in painting, writing, and making stuff and I love to support artists and the arts in Liverpool when and wherever I can.
