Earlier this year we announced our Development Grants Scheme to give young disabled artists an opportunity to develop their artistic skills.
It was wonderful to see so many ambitious and talented young artists submit their applications. We’d like to thank all of the artists for their proposals, they were a pleasure to read.
We awarded five grants to the artists below:
Adam Carragher: Voice Acting – Adam is working with RAWD to develop a voice reel of his voice acting skills in a professional recording studio. He’s also working on a podcast script with a writer.
Ollie Longhurst: Photography – Ollie has attended Photography training workshops in London as well as completing a Photography Diploma too. He is currently making a documentary about the Rookies programme itself.
Sarah Gonnet: Novel Writing – Sarah completed a Novel Writing Course with Penguin Random House, as well as a Screenwriting Masterclass taught by Aaron Sorkin. She is in the process of editing her manuscript with aims to publish it soon.
Lucy Hayward: Writing for the Stage – Lucy recently wrote, produced and created a small-scale play, On The Tracks, which was performed in Birmingham in September. She is currently developing it for the stage and has had lots of interest from various arts organisations since.
Luke Coulson: Rapping – Luke recently performed at the Anthony Walker CommUnity Event in September. He worked with Curtis Watt to develop his rapping, performing, song-writing skills.
We will post updates on their development and we are looking forward to their progress.
We will be announcing our next round of Development Grants later this year. You can keep updated via our Facebook, Twitter and website.
