DaDaFest’s Artistic Director, Ruth Gould MBE, will be visiting Palestine next week for the opening of a new exhibition “Arts and Disability: Challenges and Successes” organised by the British Council.
Produced in partnership with a number of Palestinian partner organisations, the two day programme consists of an exhibition of work that represents an accumulation of art by disabled and non-disabled Palestinians, mentored by British disabled artist and DaDaFest-regular Rachel Gadsden. Alongside this, Deaf students from the Palestine Red Crescent Society also engaged in an animation programme.
On the second day, specialist speakers on disability arts will share their work, achievements and success stories as part of a symposium. Speakers will also present opportunities for scaling up work on disability arts in Palestine.
Responding to the theme of “Disability, Arts and Social Change”, Ruth will present an overview of DaDaFest and speak about the work we do here in Liverpool as well as internationally and how those in Palestine can connect with other international artists.
The exhibition and associated events aim to promote the work of Palestinian disabled artists and support further work to develop in the country in the future.
Ruth will be blogging throughout her visit, so stay tuned to our website to read more.
